40 BRENNER, NEWARK, NEW JERSEY
This is not a place you want to live especially if you have children. I lived at 40 brenner for a little over two years and it was total hell. The apartment had leaks in the livingroom, the bathroom and the basement. I was never able to take relaxing baths in the master bedroom. It is clear that those buildings. Were built with cheap materials. Furthermore, My 17 year old daughter got beat up and robbed for her I pod on the way home walking from school. Not to mention my elementary school age child would complain about the kids cursing her out. Things you wouldn't want your young child to be subjected to. At the time I was there It was gangs that would hang out on the corner all times of the night drinking and throwing bottles.plenty of crack heads that would walk up and down the street all night. The police would harass me because I had out of town plates and it was just a mess. Ispent numerous hrs in court trying to beat bogus ticket. There was fighting and gunshots going off all times of the night. Oh and The rats that would jump out the metal trash chutes UUUGGGGGGGHHHH! Trash everywhere. It was so triffling I would pay this older guy to straighten up. Those building are decieving just looking at but don't be fooled. I spent roughly about $40,000 cash during the time I lived there and it was always a constant headache. Despite the landlord telling me how safe the neighborhood was it turned out to be total opposite. Oh I can't forget my friend had his car stolen Twice and someone broke into my truck that was in the driveway. (Bold on Brenner st.) The heating bills is outrageous due to the poor insulation.Take my advice its a lot to think about when you move into a neighborhood such as this. You have to Think about your kids saftey, the quality of their education as well as things that can affect you. You also pay higher insurance. At the time I moved there my husband pursauded me because it was sort of an emergency move, but it was the worst decision I have ever agreed to!
